"When he had received the drink, Jesus said,"It is finished". With that , he bowed his head and gave up his spirit" - John 19:30
I don't know about the rest of you but I have had my share of feeling guilt!
I feel guilty thinking I should have done this our I ought to be doing that.
I feel guilty if I do too much work
I feel guilty if I'm not doing enough work
I feel guilty if I'm not spending enough time with my husband or my kids or my friends.
I feel guilty for not taking time for God
I feel guilty for not taking time for myself
I feel the pressure of social expectations
I feel guilty for the sins I know I have committed and even the ones I didn't know I committed, if that makes any sense!
Has any of you felt this same guilt?
What causes you to feel guilt? - For me I tend to worry alot that I am not doing enough as a homemaker, mother, wife, child of God , for the church, for the community. Some days I feel like I do too much and other days I am not doing enough.
How can feelings of guilt be a gift that can actually help you become a better person? - For me guilt has taught me on how to act in pressure situations..it forces me to truly evaluate myself and what God's will for me is. It forces me to make things right.
When are you likely to wrestle with " false guilt? - For me when I catch myself overreacting which I often do. I realize as I pray about it and analyze it that what I was feeling was pure foolishness!
BUT THERE HOPE IN THIS GUILT MADNESS!
- Jesus declared on the cross that those who follow Him are forgiven!
- On the cross Jesus Christ took our place and bore all our despair and guilt as if it were His own!
- Our Savior has dealt with my guilt once and for all!
- There is NOTHING left for us to bear!
Can I hear and AMEN!!!
So let's make a toast fellow believers that today and all the tomorrows we can live a guilt free life!
